SMAV - SUPPORTO ALLA MANUTENZIONE AUMENTATA E VIRTUALE (AUGMENTED AND VIRTUAL MAINTENANCE SUPPORT)
Project Description
The project aims to develop a hardware/software prototype, with the hardware component consisting of a visor that provides immersive or augmented virtual content based on the needs of the individual operator in a specific context. It is a single tool that allows, on one hand, operational training in virtual reality and, on the other hand, assisted maintenance in augmented reality. This is achieved through the presence on the see-through AR device of an opaque mask that ensures a VR-like experience.
Goals
The project's objective is to create a new tool for use in the operational and maintenance processes of the aerospace sector, extendable to the entire industrial sector in general. This tool enables the implementation of the 4.0 Industry technologies in maintenance activities performed by operators, whether more or less specialized.
ResultsThe developed solution aims to provide new tools to industrial and aerospace sector operators involved in operational and maintenance activities at production facilities and assembly lines. The tool consists of a wearable Smart Glass device that offers combined immersive virtual reality and augmented reality content. This allows the operator to switch between immersive training and augmented maintenance modes depending on the detailed information they are interested in under specific conditions.
